The real life version of this strip is not funny. I have to draw this to therapeutically deal with seeing my little buddy feeling the way he’s felt the last three or four days. But since the rain has stopped and the sun has returned he seems to be turning the corner. I showed him the leash today and he grabbed it and headed for the door. He was his old perky self till we were on our way back. I carried him for the last block or so. He took a nap when we got home and his breathing seemed much clearer. I think the worst is over and he is on the road to recovery.
FILM BUFF ALERT! OUR NEW CALENDAR IS ALL ABOUT MOVIES MADE IN BEAUTIFUL SONOMA COUNTY!
Aldo and Me don’t have no decoder rings, action figures, or lunch boxes. What we do have is a fun, colorful way to keep track of days and get an occasional laugh along the way. If you’ve ordered the Aldo and Me Calendars in years past and enjoyed them please get your orders in by replying to this blog entry or emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org . We would be delighted to get your calendar(s) in the mail as soon as possible. One calendar will cost $22.50 which includes postage. Multiple calendar purchases will be $20/per calendar plus $2.50 total for mailing .
…and I’m not talking about Aldo and Me. Sonoma County has always been a mecca for film makers and Aldo and Me are big movie fans, so it was only natural that we would choose the famous and not so famous films whose creators set their stories against the rivers, vineyards, coast and architecture to provide classic backdrops that have thrilled audiences through the years, and become the theme of our new calendar.. That’s right, film buffs, we have chosen twelve of these locations to illustrate the theme of the all new 2019 Aldo and Me Calendar: “On Location In Sonoma County”.
Today I finished all but a few tiny tweaks to the calendar monthly grids and later this week I will be taking it to the printer. I assume it will be ready for sale by early next week. I am very grateful to all of the many folks who have purchased our first two calendars and we think you won’t be disappointed by our most recent effort, especially if you are a movie fan like we are. There are lots of movie facts, celebrity photos and birthdays, wacky and real holidays, and, as always, lots of marginal doodling. You will be enlightened, entertained and on time.
I am including the cover drawing and several sample monthly scenes for you to look at. If you would like to pre-order a calendar and you are reading this on Facebook, you can message me with your name, email address or phone number, and how many calendars you would like. If you pre-order before the end of the month (September) the price is $20/each. Add $2.50 for mailing. If you order after Sept. 30th the price will go up to $22.50 plus $2.50 for mailing. Suggested retail price for calendars sold in several Sonoma County locations will be $22.50. A price break from me may be negotiated for the purchase of large quantities for non-commercial use (gifts for family etc.).
If you are reading this on the Aldo and Me Blog you can email an order to email@example.com. Please include a mailing address if you are far away. I will be announcing times when and where I will be available in Sonoma County venues for you to pick up a signed copy if it is convenient. Otherwise I will be acquainting you with the several retail outlets where the calendar will be available soon.
Here are some samples.
And, I almost forgot, two extra pages of full color Aldo and Me comic strips.
The gritty drama series “Combat” (60’s) shot quite a few scenes around the grounds of the Korbel Winery. I am told there are more photos like the one below to be seen when you take the winery tour.
